*** '68 Camaro For Sale ***$19,500 I purchased this car 10 years ago for $10,000. It had a worn-out 350 engine and a tired 4-speed Muncie. Since then, I have spent well over $50,000 in upgrades and mods. My total investment on this car stands at about $62,000 plus countless hours of time and effort. I had planned on keeping this car forever, but private issues are forcing me to give it up. I want it gone and I'm gonna price it right so it sells. Resto-mods are selling on Barrett-Jackson auctions for a ton of money. Everyone wants a big-block and a 4-speed. If you were to rotisserie this body and detail everything out meticulously, I'll bet you could auction this car at BJ's in the $50,000 range. Here's a pic of the receipts - My intent has always to keep it as a nice driver and something that looks relatively stock. This car rides and drives pretty close to new. Virtually every moving part is new or rebuilt. I have tried to utilize the original parts whenever possible. The body was painted about 7 years ago, but could use another paint job. It looks awesome from 20 feet, but it has numerous chips and dings. I was gonna paint it prior to sale, but was advised to sell as-is so people wouldn't think I was trying to hide something. I have reduced the price accordingly. Bottom line: I want this car gone. I'm a motivated seller, I'm not just out there fishing for some sucker with a fat wallet. As far as I can tell, this car is an original SS coupe. I do not have any of the original documentation. Here is the VIN number: 124378N423755. The odometer mileage currently shows 39,650. I have had the car for over 10 years and during that time I have maybe put 3,000 miles on it. I drive it 200 to 300 miles per year, that's it.
Transmission & Clutch Tranny was completely rebuilt in Spring 2008. I did it myself (I was a mechanic, by trade) and I used top-notch AGE gears and synchros. I had assistance of Jody's Transmissions from the Team Camaro Forum. The tranny works beautifully - no strange noises - shifts smooth as butter. The Hurst shifter is basically brand new, with less than 500 miles on it. The clutch is a Centerforce Dual-Friction, with less than 500 miles on it. I do NOT beat on this car (well, not much), so the tranny and clutch are still like new, with virtually no wear. Engine Click pics below for large-size: The engine is a fuel-injected 454 bored .030" over, which means it's a 461. The block is an iron 1970 2-bolt main, and all work was done professionally by "Reid's Racing Engines", located in Whitman, MA. The last engine overhaul was done about 3 years ago, driven maybe 500 miles since then. VIDEOS (all videos, right click and do "Save As" to download the video) Here's a short video showing me cold-starting the engine. How many first-gen Camaros have you seen start this easy? Not many, is my guess. Most big-blocks will spit and pop and then run like crap for the first ten minutes. On this Camaro, you can start 'er up and drive away. Here's a short video of a little cruising, followed by 2 small holeshots. Here's a short video of a quick walk around of the car, showing exterior and interior. Here's a short video the car cruising by, and a small holeshot. NOTE: in this video, the LED tail-lights appear to be flickering, but they work just fine. They blink too rapidly for the human eye to see (that's the way they're designed), but the camera picks up the blinking. This year (2008), I had intended to boost the power level, either with nitrous or maybe a turbo. So I upgraded to a new Denny's driveshaft with 1330 series u-joints. I also upgraded to Moser axles, to reduce the chance of c-clip failure. However, the power-adder plans were cancelled when I decided to sell the car. Full disclosure: I do notice a slight vibration in the rear, starting at about 80 to 90mph. Probably pinion angles or tire balance.
IN THE REAR - The clean 12-bolt diff has 3.73 gears (positraction, of course), that are perfectly set up with NO howling of any sort. Comp Engineering traction bars. New GM shocks. Plus, this year I added two brand new Moser axles, new bearings and seals, plus all new brakes, new emergency brake cables and a brand new Denny's driveshaft. IN THE FRONT - Front power disc brakes (from SSBC). Global West upper a-arms, kit #CTA-79A. INTERIOR - Front bucket seats are from a '94 Camaro, recovered with '68 Camaro "standard" vinyl. The rear seat is also recovered with new vinyl. Seat recovering was done in 2006. The radio has a 10-CD changer in trunk, along with a 10" JVC subwoofer. There are a grand total of 3 amps, pumping out around 500 watts total, along with 8 speakers. The sound system makes a LOT of pretty clean noise. All gauges work, with the exception of the clock. All the windows are in very good condition. TIRES - BF Goodrich Radial TA's all around, almost like new. MISC:
